The Tradition

What is Tent Pegging?

Tent pegging is one of the oldest equestrian sports in the world — a breathtaking display of horsemanship in which a rider at full gallop uses a lance or sword to strike, pierce and carry away a small target peg fixed in the ground. Precision meets raw speed in a matter of seconds.

Rooted in centuries of cavalry heritage across South Asia, the Middle East and beyond, it remains a celebrated test of courage, timing and the deep bond between horse and rider. On 19 July 2026, for the very first time, this thrilling tradition came to London.

Thundering hooves, dazzling skill and a festival atmosphere for all ages — a day spent feeling the speed and witnessing the tradition first-hand.

That's a Wrap

Thank You

London's first-ever tent pegging event took place on Sunday, 19 July 2026 at Twyford Avenue Sports Ground, and it was everything we hoped it would be — a full day of horsemanship, heritage and a crowd that turned out in force.

Our thanks go to the riders and their families, to the rugby club for hosting us, to our volunteers and staff, and above all to every guest who came along and made the atmosphere what it was.

Ticket sales and registration are now closed. Follow us below to hear first when the next one is announced.
